Go night diving and see the underwater world in a whole new light - a dive lightAs the sun sets, you don your dive gear, slip on your mask and bite down on your regulator. A deep breath and you step off the boat – into the underwater night.  Although you’ve seen this reef many times before, this time you drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light.

The adventure, thrill and excitement of night diving can be yours when you complete your PADI Night Diver Specialty course.

When you go night diving you’ll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site offers a whole new adventure by moonlight! To take advantage of this extraordinary specialty, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night.

You’ll need to be at least PADI Open Water Diver (PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent) and 12 or older.

 

PADI Night Diver. When you go night diving you'll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night. This course is designed to be an introduction to night diving and to help the student divers develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary to safely participate in night-diving activities in a fun and enjoyable way, watching many fishes and marine animals that they never see during the day Nocturnal creatures!

This course is primarily practical in content, with the minimum of self study academic / theory instruction. The focus is being securely fixed on the practicalities of safe diving at night!

The course normally runs over two days/nights, dependent upon dive site location and logistics.

During your program you’ll go on three open water dives. You’ll learn to prepare night dive activities and develop your knowledge and techniques for night diving.

Some of the topics covered in PADI Night Diver Manual are:

  • Planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of night diving.
  • Proper procedures for buoyancy control, navigation and communication.
  • Use of dive lights and buddy-system techniques.
  • Disorientation and emergency procedures.
  • Orientation to nocturnal aquatic life.

The Night Dive conducted during the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver program may count toward this specialty at the discretion of the instructor.
